Your Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream Questions, Answered
We’re so thankful for the warm welcome you’ve given Banana Soufflé as the newest member of the Glow Recipe family! Banana, known for its soothing and hydrating properties, is the latest superfruit to join our gang, and while it might be a familiar food, we’re guessing you might not know all of the wonderful things it does for your skin. Read on for a helpful FAQ to answer your most-asked questions about the Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream.
Why bananas?
Check out our post on why we made Banana Souffle!
When can I use it in my routine?
Banana Soufflé can be used day or night, depending on how your skin is feeling. It’s a great daily moisturizer for dry or sensitive skin, because the formula is packed with calming, soothing, and protective ingredients. With its lightweight texture and hydrating properties, makes a great base for makeup!
If Pink Juice is your favorite daily moisturizer, but you tend to get dry overnight or in certain conditions (read: airplanes, extreme weather), try incorporating Banana Soufflé in your routine to boost hydration as needed. This is also a great for oily skin-types because it hydrates without clogging pores. If your skin tends to feel oily, try using this at night or during the winter months.
Does this have active ingredients like your other products?
Banana Soufflé is packed with ingredients that help to soothe and protect your skin without being harsh. We added magnesium, one of the heroes in this formula, is an active that helps limit the inflammatory process. And a fun fact: magnesium is naturally occurring in bananas, too! It helps calm irritation, balance moisture levels, and support skin elasticity. Potassium, another powerhouse active ingredient in this formula that works to retain moisture in your skin. The power of this moisturizer lies in its soothing, calming ingredients.
What skin concern is it best for? Is it comedogenic? Is it safe for acne-prone skin?
Our skin-care philosophy has always been to listen to your skin and feed it what it needs, because your concerns might change day to day! Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream was made specially with stressed skin in mind. If you’re prone to redness or irritation, the soothing banana, turmeric, and cica in this formula can help to calm inflammation. If your skin is dry or tends to get dehydrated, then it will benefit from the banana water, hyaluronic acid, and squalane which hydrate and seal in moisture, respectively.
We put jojoba oil, a non-comedogenic oil that’s amazing for oily or acne-prone skin, in the formula to help skin retain moisture. Jojoba oil actually mimics the natural sebum found in your skin, which means it conditions your skin without clogging your pores. We also included sugarcane-derived squalane in this formula. Squalane is actually part of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor so it’s also skin mimicking, and will help keep in moisture without causing congestion.
Breakouts could also be a sign of a compromised skin barrier. Ingredients like banana, magnesium and chia seed work together to proactively protect your skin by strengthening your skin barrier to keep acne-causing bacteria out.
Can you use this with the Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer?
Yes, you can! Our Pink Juice is made with such a high concentration of hydrating ingredients and is so lightweight, it makes a great hydrating serum for dry skin. Start with a layer of Pink Juice, and once that absorbs, seal it in with a dollop of Banana Soufflé.
Does it smell like real bananas?
It sure does! We want skin care to be fun, so we aim to create total sensorial experiences with our products. Because we had sensitive skin in mind when making Banana Soufflé, we chose to use a non-synthetic scent derived from natural flavors (made with completely edible ingredients!) to ensure that even those with the most sensitive skin can enjoy this cream and its benefits.
What’s the difference between your banana, avocado and watermelon lines?
We love all of our fruit families equally because they all treat different skin concerns. Banana Soufflé is infused with soothing and calming ingredients, so it’s an amazing moisturizer for skin that’s prone to redness, dryness, and irritation. Our Avocado line is comprised of intensive nourishing and hydrating ingredients that work together to exfoliate and moisturize for smooth, bouncy skin. Our Watermelon Glow line is made with mostly watermelon extract, a lightweight hydrator full of amino acids that protect the skin and provide bouncy hydration, and create a radiant glow.
Does it contain silicones/mineral oils?
This formula is free of both silicones and mineral oils. However, we don’t believe that silicones are harmful when they’re used as part of a properly mixed formula. Sometimes, silicones can aid in the slip and absorption of products, but we felt that Banana Soufflé had an amazing texture without them.
