In The Bag: @dirtyboysgetclean
In The Bag is where we ask our Glow Gang to open up their bags and tell us all about themselves and what they carry around on the daily. Take a peek behind the scenes to learn what they can’t live without — you might be surprised by what they reveal.
Want more info? Visit our Instagram, where each month’s In The Bag star will do a Stories takeover to share their beauty secrets, advice, and musings.
Instagram influencer and shelfie extraordinaire Matt Woodcox can pinpoint the exact moment when his love of skin care first manifested. “In 2010, a peel left my skin in terrible shape and I was suffering from acne. I tried so many products and nothing worked.” The epic quest for products that could help his problem skin began, and once he finally discovered his skin soulmates, he also found he had fallen hopelessly in love with all things beauty.
He started his @dirtyboysgetclean account back in 2017 and amassed a loyal following of over 55K equally obsessive fans who can’t get enough of his shelfie eye candy. It’s not uncommon for his Millennial pink setups to feature 50+ products, so you know his experience is legit — making him the perfect subject for this month’s In The Bag.
Read on to learn what’s in his current rotation, his best advice for those with acne, and why looking like a glazed donut is his ultimate skin goals.

Walk us through your daily beauty routine.
I call my a.m. and p.m. routines my rituals. I generally light a candle or incense and put on some music. These rituals are MY time to decompress, relax, and treat myself to a pamper session. I generally start in my bathroom at the sink. I have a massive counter space thankfully, so I keep the products I use most and am currently testing there. Sometimes I do go into my beauty room for a few things that I may have in there for content purposes.
The time it takes to execute both rituals varies, but for the most part I would say about 15 minutes — unless I am doing a mask. If I am wearing any sort of makeup I will always do that in my beauty room at one of my vanities because I like to sit down to do that.
Do you have a signature beauty look?
Once I look like a glazed donut, my work is done. I love matte looks on others, but on myself I feel like it’s just everything I try to fix about myself. I’m more of a “I just got out of the ocean” look. Very minimal and natural, with a glossy lip and a bit of shimmer for the angels.
Who are your beauty icons?
Tbh, it’s mostly other bloggers like @katiejanehughes and there’s a girl @bekah_sun that has the most stunning skin and makeup looks. I also really love the beauty looks that I see on Janelle Monae and Dua Lipa. They both always have such a fresh take on beauty.
What is your beauty playlist right now?
Harry Styles, Harry Styles, Harry Styles. His new record is everything. I also have bops by Dua Lipa, Halsey, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez and then I have to throw in some Nicki Minaj, Stevie Nicks, and Spice Girls for good measure.
How has your beauty routine evolved through the years?
Getting to know my skin better has been the best thing I’ve ever done. I would say that the evolution of my beauty routine has been confidence in myself, mostly. I used to be so afraid to wear any makeup or look too dewy. Now, I do whatever makes ME happy. I let go of fear of judgement long ago.
What beauty tip do you wish you knew earlier?
Harsh acne products won’t heal or cure your acne. Gentle products used consistently with an acne treatment mask or spot treatment is best. Also, I wish I started wearing SPF that moment I entered the world.
Are there any weird beauty tricks that you’ve learned, or like to do?
I love to use my NuFace, ice roller, jade roller, sheet mask, and eye mask before I take photos of myself for my feed. Like, let’s snatch this face up before it goes out to the world, please. It’s lift and freeze everything then snap a picture before it all goes back where it was before…
