Introducing the Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial

Clay for your skin? It doesn’t exactly seem groundbreaking at first, seeing as clay masks were one of the OG skincare products. But there’s always been a lot of room for improvement, as traditional formulas could leave skin matte, yes — but also tight and dry. Clay masks were a little too good at absorbing oil from skin, and they often did just that without restoring any hydration. That could also cause skin to overcompensate by increasing oil production, which often defeated the purpose of using a clay mask in the first place.

That’s why we’re so excited to introduce the Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial, which has all the skin-purifying, pore-clearing properties of your favorite clays, but with innovative technology that infuses the formula with ample hydration. It gives you the best of all worlds — refining pores, gently exfoliating, and hydrating skin — all in one easy, 5-minute treatment.

What sets it apart from the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask? We’re glad you asked. This creamy mask is a daily, rinse-off mask that works ASAP to give you glowing results, whereas our sleeping mask is designed to stay on your skin overnight for the max amount of benefits. This also has various methods of exfoliation, versus the alpha hydroxy acids in the sleeping mask. And while the latter is all about smoothing skin and imparting a glow while you sleep, our Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial is all about decongesting pores and blackheads. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look.

What’s inside

While we try not to play favorites, the star of the show is our exclusive hyaluronic clay in the formula. It’s technically made of kaolin clay — which is a pillow-y, less drying clay than other types — that’s been infused with a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. The clay helps the hyaluronic acid better absorb into skin and works its magic, drawing in a thousand times its own weight in water. Together, they help refine pores without sapping skin of moisture.

Then, there’s our lineup of exfoliants. There are two methods of exfoliation: Chemical, which uses chemicals to break bonds between dead skin cells and slough them off, and physical, which manually rubs off the dead skin cells. For the chemical exfoliants, you’ll find a blend of watermelon enzymes, beta hydroxy acid (BHA), and polyhydroxy acid (PHA), whereas we use blueberry seed powder for the latter.

Chances are, you already know and love BHA, naturally derived from willow bark in this case. It’s an oil-soluble ingredient, so it’s able to do a deep-dive into sebum-packed pores and dissolve gunk, such as blackheads. PHA is the gentler cousin to AHAs; it offers mild exfoliation without any irritation, and is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types. Finally, with watermelon enzymes, we’re giving a nod to two of our staple ingredients: Watermelon and fruit enzymes. (There’s also watermelon extract, which is jam-packed with antioxidants and vitamins.)

For physical or manual exfoliation, on the other hand, the Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial has blueberry seed powder. It’s ultra-fine, so you won’t run into the same problem as with gritter or coarser physical exfoliants (which could create micro-tears in the skin if you’re not careful). It’s as gentle as it gets so as not to overdo the exfoliation — while still offering just enough to smooth skin and keep pores clear.

How to use it

After cleansing, apply a generous amount of Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial to damp skin all over your face. If you feel slight tingling, that’s normal. Wait five minutes — brush your teeth, scroll through IG, sit on the couch and do some deep breathing — and then rinse with lukewarm water before following up with the rest of your routine. You can use it daily if you want. (It’s that gentle.)

If you’ve had to use serious elbow grease to remove your clay masks in the past, you’re in for a treat: The Hyaluronic Clay Facial is a lightweight texture that doesn’t dry down and rinses easily. Consider your towels spared.

That said, if your skin is on the sensitive side, start by applying it for only two minutes, then gradually work your way to five minutes. You can also use it to multimask. T-zone looking shiny? No sweat: Apply the clay facial on your nose and forehead only for an instant fix.

We’re beyond thrilled that we can finally share this innovative launch that everyone can use, and can’t wait for you to try the Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial for yourself. Got questions? Just leave a comment below and we’ll get back to you!
