Meet the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm!
As a brand that’s continually inspired by K-beauty trends, we’ve been dreaming of ways to put our stamp on the Korean routine staple, double cleansing, for some time now. It’s our pleasure to introduce you to our latest innovation, the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm! This PEG-free, balm-to-milky oil formula harnesses naturally enzymatic, actively soothing papaya to resurface skin while effortlessly cleansing, creating the ultimate baby-soft canvas for skin care and makeup. By pairing nourishing oils with gentle exfoliating enzymes, this formula gives your skin an instant glow.
What’s Inside?
The signature fruit and active pairing in the latest addition to our lineup is papaya and natural enzymes. An enzyme called “papain” naturally occurs in papaya fruit, and it’s a gentle exfoliant that helps to soften, smooth, and brighten the top layer of your skin. Enzymes are also just a touch more gentle than chemical exfoliants like AHAs and they’re not oil-soluble like BHAs. This makes them ideal for daily use. The combination of sloughing away the top layer of skin and actively soothing makes enzymes a great option for sensitive and acne-prone skin. We paired this natural enzyme with papaya extract and oils which are rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as linoleic and oleic acids. The latter two are fatty acids that keep skin healthy by helping to replenish its moisture barrier. Antioxidant-rich blueberry extract, moisturizing camellia seed oil, and nourishing apricot kernel seed oil make appearances in this game-changing formula too.
What really sets this formula apart is the fact that it’s PEG-free. PEG, also known as polyethylene glycol, is a common ingredient in some of the most popular cleansing balms around. It’s used to help with makeup removal, but can cause sensitivity when used consistently, especially for skin that’s already prone to reactivity. Because the skin on your face and around your eyes is so delicate, we chose to formulate without PEGs. Instead, you’ll find sorbitan oleate in this formula, a solubilizer extracted from olive, along with other oils that all work together to effectively remove your makeup.
Our new Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is also made without added fragrance, but it still smells fresh and fruity. How did we do that? The naturally fragrant plant-based extracts that help to build out this formula, like blueberry and strawberry extract, are what gives the formula its fruity scent! This balm is also free of mineral oils, and we opted for skin-beneficial oils instead because they emulsify much better. Not only that, but we made this formula to be gentle around your eyes, too.
How To Use
Did you know that the “double cleansing” trend actually started in Korea? This cleansing method works so well for all skin types because it uses an oil-based formula first to break down the likes of makeup, sebum buildup, sunscreen, and all kinds of other stuff your more familiar foaming cleanser may leave behind.
This cleansing balm is just as good on its own as it is the first step of a double cleanse. If your skin is feeling dry or dehydrated, use it in the morning to impart an instant, dewy glow even before diving into the rest of your routine. To use it this way, apply a small scoop to dry skin and massage all over. Glow tip: This balm also provides great slip for an AM gua sha routine or facial massage. When double cleansing, we always like to recommend the 1+1 technique. This method calls for using an oil-based cleanser, like a balm, for one full minute to break down a buildup of makeup and general grime on the surface of your skin. Then, follow that with another full minute cleanse using a water-based cleanser, like the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, for a truly effective deep clean.
Formulated for normal, dry, sensitive, and even acne-prone skin, our new Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm effortlessly removes makeup and is the most exciting thing to happen to our cleansing routine so far this year. We can’t wait for you to try it!
