Polatam: Masking's New Miracle

Our discovery of the Polatam Water Gel sheet masks began with our team’s group trial in our offices. As we swivelled around in our chairs and removed our respective sheets after just 10 minutes (versus the normal 20 minutes required of a sheet mask), we were delighted to find that the masks had seriously delivered on their claims: 10 minutes was all it took to top up our hydration levels and get an extra boost of one of three nourishing formulas.

Created by Park Tam Hee, famed Korean actress and former K-Pop star, Polatam’s masks are infused with minimal, clean, and skin-loving natural ingredients. The star ingredient in these masks in Korean Oak Sap extract, which helps to create the indulgently comforting, highly-concentrated water gel serum. Oak Sap extract not only contains large amounts of natural minerals and niacinamide to nourish and brighten skin, but also acts as a natural preservative, allowing for the serum to be formulated without synthetic preservatives.

The sheet is made of silky and antioxidant-rich Cupro cotton, which can hold up to ten times more essence than a regular cotton sheet mask. Cupro is created from high quality cotton harvested from linter, the softest, innermost fibers of the cotton plant and is great for even the most sensitive skin types.

Upon opening one of beautifully designed, minimalist black & white mask packs, I was met with one of the thinnest and most flexible sheet masks I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. Cupro feels like a hybrid between a cotton and silk mask, adhering seamlessly to the contours of the face and staying put for the full duration of a masking session.

The watery-gel essence of the Polatam sheet is interesting in and of itself. I got the sense that the gel melted as soon as it made contact with my skin for an extra refreshing sensation that carried a bit more moisturizing weight than one typically finds in a sheet mask essence. Like the loveliest of gel-weight creams, gel essences are a great middle ground for all skin types: light enough for the most sensitive, but also hydrating enough to calm very dry skin or to aid in anti-aging efforts!

As I peeled away the gossamer sheet, I was met with a calmed, glowing visage. My first Polatam mask was the Moisturizing variety, and it checked off all of my HG Masking Requirements: plumped smile lines, calmed inflammation, and bouncy skin. I’ve since tried all three of Polatam’s Extra Force range, and have loved each one more than the last.
