Product Review: Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum
Anyone who knows me knows that I love autumn! Everything about it makes me squeal like a high school girl on the inside: the endless variety of pumpkin-themed foods, the beautiful array of red and gold leaves scattered everywhere, and cozy sweaters in every knit imaginable. As much as I love fall, the transition from hot summer days to chilly autumn nights is brutal on my skin. Today on the blog, I’m going to share with you a product that has been a lifesaver for my skin.
Introducing, the one and the only, Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum!
The Look:
The pressed serum comes in a sturdy, but lightweight plastic container. I’m a girl who loves the way glass containers feel, but they can be a pain to travel with. As a frequent traveller, I’m always on the lookout for quality products in travel-friendly containers.
After you open up the container, do not be surprised if your first reaction is “What is this?!?!” Although the container is purple on the outside, inside is a light brown colored blob. The color is due to the fact that the tundra pressed serum is composed of a whopping 60% chaga mushroom extract! But don’t worry, the serum smells nothing like mushrooms. When you open it up, there’s a nice light floral scent.
The Ingredients:
The serum is chock-full of great ingredients, but here are some that are particularly noteworthy:
- Chaga mushroom: Chaga mushrooms grow on trees and are the most nutritionally dense of all tree growths. Siberians call it the “Mushroom of Immortality.” It’s great for soothing your skin and because it’s full of antioxidants, it’s great for anti-aging purposes as well.
- Fermented oils: the serum has a blend of olive oil and argan tree kernel oil that went through a 120 hours fermentation process to preserve their nutrients. Oils are a great way to help your skin retain moisture because they form a protective barrier that prevents moisture from escaping.
The Application:
I’ll admit, before this I had no idea what a pressed serum is and how it’s different from regular serums. The first time I tried to use this, instead of using the spatula that comes with the serum, I tried digging my fingers into it. It was such a struggle because the serum was gelatinous! Apparently, pressed serums are just concentrated serums in solid, jelly-like form! The silky texture is actually a lot like flan or mango pudding. Just don’t try to eat it, haha.
Eventually, I smartened up and started using the spatula, which made it infinitely easier to pick up serum. I usually use a pea-size amount; of course, you’re welcome to slather on as much as you want, but because the serum is so concentrated, even a tiny amount goes a long way.
I would recommend putting it into the palm of your hands, then rubbing your hands together to warm up the serum and liquefy it before gently pressing it onto your face for better absorption.
The Performance:
This serum has been a lifesaver for me! I use it everyday at night for that extra boost of moisture after applying my LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence and before my Whamisa Organic Flowers Water Cream.
Before I started using this, the area about my nose was extremely dry and flaky. It was actually super gross and annoying because I couldn’t really use my Hera Cushion Compact during the day because of all the flaky skin. After using this for the past few weeks, all of the flaky skin is completely gone! My skin is brighter, bouncier and super moisturized. I can’t rave about this product enough for people with dry skin. Seriously, give it a try and you’ll be amazed at how soothed and moisturized your skin will feel.
TL;DR:
- Lightweight, easy to travel with container
- Easy application with spatula
- Solid to liquid formula
- Ultra-moisturizing
And there you have it, my new must-have product for fall. Let me know in the comments what are your must-have fall products!
Get your glow on!
